Mini-skirts vs. mustaches

In a strongly masculinized society such as ours, the female body is inevitably the scene of a conflict that is played on both the ethical and the aesthetic level, to the point that between two phenomena conventionally linked to fashion, like the miniskirt and the mustache, the former generates more sensation and chatter than the latter. At the same time, it is the very idea of femininity and that of feminism that experiences an inner conflict: what does it mean to be “feminine” in a world dominated by the male gaze? Is it possible to wear a miniskirt while at the same time claiming feminists? Rachel Vanier was born in Budapest in 1988. After having grown up in Lille, she studied at Sciences Po in Paris, she then worked between Paris and San Francisco, in the world of innovation and start-ups. She is the former Communication Director of STATION F, the biggest startup incubator in the world. In addition, she is the author of Écosystème (2017), a novel which talks about the clichés and the difficulties of the start-up world.
